”We are spending a huge amount on aging but we're only using band-aid solutions - that's the insanity here”

In Vitalism I have finally found a movement whose values and goals align exactly with my own. In this episode you get the chance to hear from one of its founders: Adam Gries. You should take it.

Adam is a serial entrepreneur and software engineer who has made significant strides in the tech industry, having sold four companies and developed apps and games reaching over 80 million users. However, it's his work in the field of longevity and his co-founding of the Vitalism movement that stands out as his most ambitious and, hopefully, world-changing endeavor.

Vitalism, co-founded by Gries and Nathan Cheng, is described as ”a moral philosophy and a community of action forming a revolutionary movement to get humanity to fight as hard as possible to achieve unlimited lifespans in peak health”.

At its core, Vitalism asserts that life and health are inherently good, and that death - particularly death caused by aging - is humanity's fundamental problem.

The goal of Vitalism is to make solving aging and death humanity's number one priority. This ambitious aim is reflected in their strategy to transform jurisdictions into ”longevity states” that allocate significant resources, potentially up to 1% of GDP, to combat aging through science and technology.

Vitalism was founded out of a growing frustration with the current approach to aging and longevity research. Gries observed that despite the enormous sums spent on sick care for the elderly, very little was being invested in actually solving the root causes of aging. He also noted a paradoxical attitude in society, where people value health highly but often shy away from confronting the reality of aging and death.

The movement aims to unify and mobilize individuals who share these values, creating a network of vitalist organizations and supporters. By doing so, they hope to drive massive change in how society approaches aging, shifting from reactive sick care to active prevention and reversal of the aging process.

But all of this it doesn’t fully capture the nuance, passion and clarity that Adam provides in the episode. You’ll learn a lot and hopefully be inspired to take action!
